More About Your Stay
The Boat House dates back to at least the late nineteenth century and was the original chapel for East Portholland. When the larger Chapel was built beside it in 1881, the Boat House became the school and latterly, until 2000, was used to store fishermen’s nets.
East Portholland is the larger of these two postcard-perfect hamlets and, with no crowds or through traffic, is peaceful and authentic. The beaches join at high tide into a large expanse of sand, perfect for morning strolls and soaking up the sea air.
In 2015, East Portholland was chosen as a filming location for Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and it is not hard to see why when the village’s untouched beauty feels like stepping into another world.
